Let’s see what are this week’s news about Joomla!
It has been announced a new interesting extension, called Nooku, that will be concurrent to Joom!Fish, that will let you build multilingual sites. From the screenshots, it looks like an interesting project
Packt Publishing launched a new book about Joomla! 1.5, called Building Websites with Joomla! 1.5. If this is written well like the other Packt books, this will be a must have 
Let’s look at the news about extensions:
- JoomSuite Content 1.1, the newest version of this great content manager.
- Summary, used to write an article summary for the homepage, that will not be displayed in full text.
- Joomla Paypal IPN, allows to sell digital goods with Joomla! 1.5
- Pay to Download XT beta, another component you can use to sell digital goods
- Genie Wish List, nice add-on you can use to create and manage a wish list, avoids double presents
- Core Design Downloader plugin, a new way to distribute documents and files, based upon ACL permissions.
- Insert Custom Code allows to insert custom PHP, HTML and JavaScript code in the articles.
- Yahoo! Flickr Video Mambot, to display the new Flickr videos in your posts.
- Daily Message, shows a personalized message based upon what day it is.
- Flash Media Player, the name says all.
- Ninja UserSplash is a factotum plugin for Community Builder.
- JV-ContentLinks allows to control all the links that are shown in the articles from a centralized point of view.
- Ninja ShadowBox is an all-in-one Media Manager.
- ARI Quiz allows to create quiz for your users.
- Joomla Web Messenger inserts a Windows Live Messenger bundle.
- Mov’AMP Joomla! this is not an extension but a complete Joomla! installation to put on a USB drive.
- Advanced Flash MP3 Player, to insert music or interviews (mp3 in general) in an article.

Nooku looks brilliant. And it’s framework. The ability to write plug-ins on the back of Nooku will enable developers to create improved integration site-wide.
This will mark Joomla technology taking a great leap ahead of Drupal. Great to see. Let’s see how long it takes for Drupal to catch up.
Not that I’ve used Nooku yet, but if it lives up to its promise (it is endorsed by the United Nations and Belgium Police) it’s got to be an improvement over Joom!Fish.

Thank you for this comment, David. I do think that Nooku will be a serious competitor for Joom!Fish, I can’t wait to have a look at it when it will be released.
