Firefox 3 beta 5 is the latest release of Firefox 3, the great Open Source browser.
This release introduces a number of great new features; I talked about them last week, when I wrote a nice Firefox 3 beta 4 review.

The new beta 5 introduces a series of improvements regarding the Operating System integration, the bookmarks, history and tag management.
Also, it has been improved the speed of the Javascript engine, and as the release notes say, loading a web application such as Google Maps or Zoho Office is now 50% faster than Firefox 2.
You can download this new beta on the official Firefox website, in the section Developers.
I suggest you to try this new Firefox 3 and use it instead of Firefox 2: if you try it - especially on a Mac, you’ll never come back.
As I told you in the beta 4 review, nowadays many add-ons written for FF2 are not compatible with Firefox 3.
The good thing is that if you install Firefox 3, it keeps the Firefox 2 installed plugins in memory and checks about their compatibility. If you can’t use them with FF3, they’re not deleted but disabled. Once in a while FF checks about a newer version of the extension and downloads it, then it tries to install them.
So, once a Firefox 3 compatible version of your favourite plugins will be released, you’ll be able to use it.
