Firefox 3 beta 4

In the last weeks I’ve had a few crash problems with Firefox 2, so I decided to try the latest release of Firefox, Firefox 3 beta 4. After that, I removed Firefox 2 from my MacBook :-)

I think I installed too many plugins, and I wasn’t able to choose the one to uninstall, so I decided to get rid of them all ;-)

So i downloaded Firefox 3: it’s really a good piece of work. Being a Mac user, it’s incredible the difference of look-and-feel between version 2 and the newest 3. Here are the things that impressed me:

  • The Firefox 3 interface is perfectly integrated in Mac OS X.. finally Firefox doesn’t seem to come from Mars, but has a great integration with the OS.
  • The Download Manager is better organized than the previous one. The same goes for the add-on management.
  • The new Bookmarks manage is so nice!
  • The intellingent URL bar, that remembers the most visited URLs.
  • It’s way lighter and faster than FF2
  • It has a great brand-new zoom
  • It’s possible to scoll the pages even if the FF window is inactive, using the mouse wheel!
  • A new chapter of “The book of Mozilla“.. type about:mozilla in the URL bar :-)
  • A useful “highlight” function in the Search interface, useful to highlight all the word occor
  • A new anti-fraud function that gives the opportunity to verify the identity of the website via Verisign.. very useful with sites like Ebay.

You can’t use all the FF 2 extensions, it will take some time. I noticed that some of the working addons are Greasemonkey, StumbleUpon toolbar, the Developer toolbar.. unfortunately not the Google toolbar and Firebug :-| ..we’ll just have to wait some time!

Check it out!
