WordPress on the iPhone?

It's been a few days since it's started to spread a rumour about a new feature in the next release of the iPhone 2.0: there'll be a WordPress widget that will let you post to your blog directly from that iPhone app.

Let's make sure you know that I've never seen an iPhone, so these are just my considerations about what I think, because I know that it will be very hard not-to-get such a device when it will be available in Italy in the 3G version.

As a blogger the news about the WordPress integration in iPhone made me think about blogging in the open air with that handheld device, but what could be the quality of an iPhone-written post?

Let's take as an example this blog, with posts that are a collection of links with some comments here and there, or list posts.

With a computer it's not difficult to copy and paste links as you find it on the web, but how will you copy and paste links on an iPhone to your WordPress widget?

How will we put many links in a single post without getting mad going from Safari to WP? And what about images? I don't think there's a right button on the iPhone touchpad ;-)

So, if it's true that the iPhone 2.0 will have a WordPress widget, we'll have to wait to see how will it work.

I hope we'll be surprised by the Apple engineers! :-D In that case, we'll be able to leave our MacBooks at home :-)

It seems that the next iPhone will also be able to act as a GPS device.. well, that would be great!
