Wordpress 2.5 out on March 17th.. maybe.

I know many of you noticed that the release of Wordpress 2.5 was delayed: in fact the popular blog engine, that powers at least the 0,8% of the web sites, should have been released last monday.

The new release date seems to be the 17th of March, as the Wordpress Tracker says.

There’s a lot of buzz about this release, due to the great improvements that will be made to the administrator interface, that has been refactored, for a better usability.  In addiction, there’ll be a new Dashboard powered by widgets, a new panel used to manage tags, a new feature that should upgrade automatically the installed plugins, a new WYSIWYG editor and much more!

However, in order to be able to use this release we have to wait that all the plugins we use in our Wordpress blogs are upgraded to work with the new version. You can find a list of tested plugins on the Wordpress website.

Of course, the plugins developers do not wait the day of the release to test their plugins, but they test them on the nightly builds, so I think we’ll have a good number of plugins available soon (at least the most popular).

I found this funny post published on the Movable Type blog (the famous blog engine), that explains how to upgrade Wordpress.. to Movable Type! ;-) ..I’m sorry guys but you won’t have us :-D
